Budget for term 2

The following are possible things that you will have to pay for in term 2 of the school year:

  1. School fees if you pay your school fees per term.
  2. Additional stationery that your child might need. Sometimes you only know which things they will need once the school year is in full swing. It could also be that they are starting with summaries for exam time and might need additional files, highlighters or sticky notes.
  3. Winter school uniform. With the days getting shorter and the weather becoming colder, you will need to get some winter school uniform items.
  4. Winter sports uniform. Some sports have their own specific uniform or equipment and if your child is going to participate in them, this is an expense you have to plan for.
  5. Winter sports fees. Some schools charge an additional sports administration or coaching fee. Find out if this is the case at your school.
  6. Sport tours. Some schools have winter sport tours for which you will have to pay additionally.
  7. It’s also the time of year where Olympiad fees are asked for if your child, for example, participates in the Maths Olympiad.
  8. Practice for school plays or concert might start now and things like costumes and décor could cost you.
  9. After the term 1 report card you might now know in which subjects your child will need a little extra help in the form of extra classes or a tutor. Click here to read more about how you can make tutoring cheaper.
