When does your child need a tutor?
There are a number of reasons that your child would benefit from a tutor:
- If you feel that your child can perform better.
- If your child procrastinates or finds reasons not to complete homework.
- If your child’s grades start dropping.
- Your child shows signs of anxiety.
- Your child displays a lack of confidence.
- If you or your child’s teacher has identified a learning disorder.
In today’s world, there is little doubt that using the services of a tutor will prove invaluable; as our children are consistently reminded that in order to be successful in life, they need to be successful in the classroom. It is so that in many households, both parents have to work for a living and are therefore not always able to devote enough time to their child’s academic studies.
When considering the services of a tutor, make sure they:
- have completed a grade 12 certificate, with good grades,
- possesses a tutoring/training certificate,
- can provide at least one tutoring reference.
We would emphasise the importance of checking credentials, previous references and introducing your child/children to the tutor in order to establish mutual understanding and respect. The greater the bond between your child and the tutor, the better the ultimate outcome.
